When Nicky & I first met in Bali, Crete in 2003, we both talked about perhaps one day pursuing a dream of owning a sail boat, and seeing the world at the whim of the wind & tides. 10 years on we managed to buy our boat, have a small family, and have finally managed in the summer of 2014, to let slip from our home port of London to follow a dream.
This is the site of the Thunecke Family; of our voyages, aspirations, hardships, joys and general life stories since buying our boat Maya and setting sail.
Skipper: Rolfy
First Mate: Nicky
Deck Hand no 1: Audrey (Didi) age 2 and a half

We plan to spend as much time as we can with our young growing family while they are small, sailing the world, wherever the wind might blow us. Ultimately our aim is to sail into Sydney Australia where Nicky is from, where we hope to make our new home and allow the kids some land time while they go to school, unless we don't end up in Bora Bora living in a tree house or become pirates......
Here you can read our blog which contains updates of our adventures, and hopefully some useful tips for those planning to do something similar, and of course please also leave your comments. You'll be able to follow us on our map which will track us as we go. Read about the different places we visit & hole up in. Find out all the nitty gritty of our boat Maya and what shes made of, as well as perhaps enjoy flicking though some of our photos & things we like, and that make us tick.
Family and Friends will be able to book times and places to come and visit us. And there is also a section on information we have found useful, and would like to share with others.
We hope you enjoy, keeping up with what we're up to from time to time....
